Extended abstract

By accepting your oral presentation at the 5th International State-of-the-Art Congress ‘Rehabilitation: Mobility, Exercise & Sports’ congress, you agree to submit an extended abstract as well. All extended abstracts of all the presenters at the congress will be published as proceedings by the Wenckebach Instituut in an online open-access document.

We strive to receive all extended abstracts print-ready. Therefore, please follow the guidelines below for a smooth and successful development of the conference proceedings.

a.     The deadline for submitting your extended abstract is March 31, 2014. Send an e-mail with your extended abstract attached to rehabmove2014@umcg.nl.

b.    The examples, template and guidelines can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.

c.     First download the template RehabExtAbstract.dot and save it as a Word-document with the following filename: AbstractID+Name.doc. You can find your abstract ID in the confirmation email. Example: 009deGroot.doc.

d.    The maximum size of your extended abstract (including title, affiliations, abstract, content and references) is three pages. It is not allowed to adjust the predefined margins and styles in the document.

e.     In the template all styles are predefined. For the Word experts: Open the tab styles and formatting in Microsoft Word to oversee the complete list of used styles. The template contains all the styles you need to prepare a print-ready version of the extended abstract.

f.     See the two PDF-documents ExampleExtendedAbstract.pdf for detailed examples. In the end, the lay-out of your abstract should look like these examples. If you are lost during formatting your abstract, you can always download a new template from the website to copy/paste some parts of the original template into your document.

Instructions oral presentation

Each oral presenter has 15 minutes max, 10-12 minutes to present and 3-5 minutes for discussion. Because there is a strict timetable, the session-chairs will end your presentation after 15 minutes exactly. Please keep this in mind in while preparing your presentation.

Instructions poster presentation

Posters are exposed during all three days of the congress. There is time to visit the poster exhibition during coffee & tea breaks, lunches and during the poster sessions. There are two scheduled poster sessions, presenters are asked to take place next to their poster at least during one of these sessions to explain their presented work and answer questions. For presenters with an even abstract ID number this will be on Thursday, April 24 and for presenters with an odd abstract ID on Friday, April 25.

Guidelines for preparing your poster:

1.     The poster boards are 1,20m by 1,20m. So be sure that your poster is not wider than 1,20m.

2.     Make sure that your poster is legible from 1,5m distance.

3.     Aim for a clear and concise message.

4.     Figures, graphs, illustrations and text should support this main message.

5.     If you upload files of photos, make sure that their resolution is high enough for poster print.

6.     Keep the amount of text limited.
